SENSING THE CITY Open Call – PLACCC Festival Budapest
- May 3
- 2 min read
PLACCC Festival invites submissions for public or site-specific artworks with an ecological focus, encouraging collaboration across disciplines.
The SENSING THE CITY program, launched in 2021, addresses environmental issues through small-scale, experimental art interventions. They seek projects that engage urban participants, offering multisensory experiences to explore ecological and ecopolitical challenges while envisioning alternative futures.
"Sensing" refers to both perceiving the city and sensitizing urban spaces through presence. They welcome multidisciplinary approaches linking art and ecology, with thematic discussions involving experts, decided with selected artists.

Artists from all fields (theater, dance, music, literature, visual art, photography, film, architecture) are encouraged to apply. The jury may not select a winner if thematic relevance or artistic quality is lacking. Applications for individual and group projects are accepted.
Interdisciplinary collaboration is beneficial but not required. Selected artists will implement their projects and participate in thematic discussions.
Artist fees: Individual: 200 000 HUF; Group: 300 000 HUF. An additional 50 000 HUF is available for material costs, with potential material sponsorship. Necessary permits will be arranged by the festival.
