MIXTE – Call for Musical Creation

MIXTE is a training academy for composers and performers in mixed music practices, combining instrumental ensembles and electronic devices. It serves as a laboratory for experimentation, offering musicians a space to meet, exchange ideas, and create together with professional support.

MIXTE fosters new generations of performers and composers through personalized project follow-up and a summer workshop dedicated to creation and interpretation. For its third edition, a Call for Musical Creation is launched in March 2025. Selected composers will work with Italian composer Giulia Lorusso and engage with Proxima Centauri performers during the 2025-2026 season, culminating in world premieres at the MÀD Festival in November 2026 in Bordeaux.

The summer academy will occur in Pau from July 3 to 10, 2026, featuring winning composers, musicians, and performers selected via a Call for Composers and Performers. Alongside Giulia Lorusso and Proxima Centauri, saxophonist, dancer, and improviser Yui Sakagoshi will join the course.

MIXTE offers a week of musical creation with individual and group workshops, seminars, public concerts, and more, engaging the city and its residents.

Proxima Centauri, based in Bordeaux, has innovated chamber music by integrating electro-acoustic elements for over thirty years. The association organizes a strong cultural season, including the biennial MÀD Festival, where MIXTE Academy presents world premieres of supported works.
