BERECZKI RUBEN

BIO

His work focuses on the abstract medium of space, its texture, and its emotional resonance, often minimizing human presence in order to highlight the identity of the environment.

Through his creations, he explores themes of urban isolation, liminal states, and subtle narrative tension. He is particularly drawn to overlooked details—light, shadow, architecture, and transitional spaces—which he transforms into visually introspective compositions.

SELECTION OF WORKS

Around the Fortress ()

The works are part of the “Around the Fortress” photo series, which observes the architectural details, textures, and structures of the city’s urban spaces through an abstract and conceptual approach, deliberately avoiding human presence in order to highlight the visual language of the place.

The photograph becomes a “trace” of a space—a visual imprint generated by the interplay of color and material, geometry, and visual spontaneity. Unlike traditional documentation, the series proposes a poetic and introspective rediscovery of the artist’s hometown, revealing its dynamic atmosphere and the quiet rhythms of everyday life.

At the core of the initiative lies the idea of personal rediscovery: a city that, though familiar and ordinary, becomes enigmatic again when viewed through an aesthetic and abstract lens. The photographs suggest an interdisciplinary dialogue between visual art, architecture, and urban memory, exploring the boundaries between form, space, and perception.

Divergence (2023)

“Divergence” is a black-and-white photographic project that explores the relationship between geometric forms and negative space, creating dynamic and profound compositions. By deconstructing forms through light and shadow, they become autonomous subjects capable of conveying visual tension and independence.

The project proposes a reinterpretation of urban space, capturing the beauty of the city from unconventional perspectives. The photographs focus on architectural geometry and the interplay of light and shadow, reducing compositions to their essence: strong contrasts, clearly defined surfaces, and lines. The removal of depth elements and complex backgrounds brings forms and visual structure to the forefront.
